Preferential rate

 

The preferential rate for the accommodation service can only be applied to students who are in need but deserving and who meet the requirements (in terms of merit and income) for the ISU Bocconi Scholarship for the Right to University Education. For the preferential rate, 3 different fee levels based on the ISU brackets (1st, 2nd and 3rd ISU bracket) are foreseen, depending on the values indicated on the ISEE/ISEEU Parificato Certificate submitted at the moment of the application. For all other students the full rate is applied.

Open reservation recovery session

Application available from 4 to 8 November 2024
Only students who will result eligible for the ISU Bocconi Scholarship a.y. 2024-25 will be entitled to participate to the Open reservation — recovery session (preferential rate)

Through the "Renewal" and the "New admission" application, rooms for the standard assignment period (late August 2024 — June 2025) will be assigned; this period meets the academic needs of most students.

Through the "Open reservation — recovery session" application, rooms at preferential rate will be assigned for the period January-June 2025.

Throughout the period in which the student is a resident in a Bocconi residence hall, room changes are not permitted. Instead, it is the right of Bocconi University to transfer the student, even during the year, to another residence hall at the rate provided for the new residence. 

A preferential rate assignment may be requested only by students who:
 

  • Meet the economic requirements established by the Lombardy Region for the access to the benefits of the Right to University Education for the a.y. 2024-25 and the necessary documentation: please refer to the dedicated page for all information. 

    For the purpose of ascertaining the economic conditions and the truthfulness of the information provided, Bocconi University will make use of the faculties provided for by the current provisions of the law. Information on ascertaining the economic conditions and veracity of the statements provided is available at the following link.

  • are non-resident, meaning NOT living in one of the “resident” (pdf) or “commuting” (pdf) municipalities, with the only exception being students interested in applying during the “Open reservation – recovery session”, for whom this requirement does not have to be strictly fulfilled;

  • do not fall under any of the grounds for exclusion

  • in possession of the minimum number of credits required to submit the application, detailed in the following point 2 "Credits required to submit the application

  • will enroll for a.y. 2024-25:

  • for Bachelor programs: to the first, second, third or first "fuori corso" year of the third year

  • for the Integrated Master of Arts in Law: to the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or first "fuori corso" year of the fifth year

  • for Master of Science programs: to the first, second, or first "fuori corso" year of the second year

The number of rooms available at preferential rate is usually lower than the applications submitted. Regularly enrolled students will be considered as a priority: applications submitted by students transferring from other Universities or repeating any year of course will not be accepted. Detailed rules on verifications carried out on years of enrollment are available in the Housing Application Requirements and Regulations a.y. 2024-25.

It is also specified, exclusively for students enrolled for a.y. 2024-25 to the first year of a Bachelor or Integrated Master of Arts in Law program, that they can apply for Preferential rate new admission application only after having submitted the “ISU Bocconi Scholarship a.y. 2024-25” application. 

In the application sessions "Preferential rate renewal application" and "Preferential rate new admission application" will be evaluated only applications from students who have earned the number of credits specified below no later than: February 3rd, 2024 for Bachelor and Master of Science programs, and by March 23rd, 2024 for Integrated Master of Arts in Law program.

It is specified that:

>First year students of the Bachelor or Integrated Master of Arts in Law programs are not required to reach this minimum number of credits if they wish to apply for the "Preferential rate new admission application"

>A minimum number of credits is not required to students who wish to apply for the "Open reservation — recovery session" application.
  

Minimum number of credits required
 

11 credits for those enrolled in the first year (bachelor, master of science and integrated master of arts in law programs) in A.Y. 2023-24

60 credits for those enrolled in the second year (bachelor or integrated master of arts in law programs) in A.Y. 2023-24

120 credits for those enrolled in a.y. 2023-24 in the third year or first year “fuori corso” of a bachelor program who will enroll for a.y. 2024-25 in the first year of a master of science program at Bocconi, or those enrolled in a.y. 2023-24 in the third year of integrated master of arts in law programs 

180 credits for those enrolled in the fourth year of an integrated master of arts in law program in A.Y. 2023-24

240 credits for those enrolled in the fifth year of an integrated master of arts in law program in A.Y. 2023-24
 

It is specified that for the achievement of the minimum number of credits required at the end of the winter session there is NO use of bonus credits in addition to the credits actually earned by the student.

For students who have participated in an Exchange program during the first semester, the timing of recognition of exams taken abroad will be considered. Such students are invited to still apply for housing renewal if interested and to monitor the credit recognition in order to complete it as soon as possible. Please note that no flexibility can be applied in relation to the achievement of the merit requirement for accommodation - credits to be achieved by August 10, 2024. (please see paragraph 5)

It is also specified that for students with disability pursuant to Italian Law n.104/1992 or with civil disability equal or greater than 66%, the number of minimum credits may deviate up to a maximum of 40% from the number of credits indicated above.

The housing assignment for A.Y. 2024-25 is granted for the academic year of application only, therefore, it is not automatically renewed for subsequent academic years, but it is the student's responsibility to check whether it can be renewed and to make subsequent applications for assignment in the ways that will be provided by the Housing Application Requirements and Regulations for each academic year of interest.

If for A.Y. 2024-25 you are in possession of an ISEE/ISEEU parificato certificate with ISEE/ISEEU parificato and/or an ISPE/ISPEU parificato values above the required limits, you can apply for full rate housing renewal.

Preferential rate new admission application a.y. 2024-2025 (expired) 

Attention: students enrolled for a.y. 2024-25 to the first year of a Bachelor or Integrated Master of Arts in Law program can apply for Preferential rate new admission application only after having submitted the “ISU Bocconi Scholarship a.y. 2024-25” application. 

Through this application will be assigned the remaining availability after the Preferential rate housing renewal application and within the number of beds defined on the Housing Application Requirements and Regulations A.Y. 2024-2025 (understood as specific number of beds per single residence). Students who will be eligible for new admission at Preferential rate housing for A.Y. 2024-25 will be assigned housing. In case the number of applicants exceeds the number of available places, the assignment will be made according to the ranking list following the order described in the Housing Application Requirements and Regulations A.Y. 2024-25.

Applications submitted after the deadline and/or with submission methods that do not comply with the prescribed procedure and/or with incomplete documentation will not be taken into consideration.

After submitting your application, monitor in the "Notifications" area of MyApplication for communications from the Office, which may indicate the need for additions or integrations of documents.


How to upload the documents correctly

You must print all documents, sign them by hand with a legible signature, and upload them with all pages to the designated section no later than the application’s deadline. In order to complete the application, it is necessary to click on the button "submit application" after having completed the 500 euros housing deposit payment and the upload of all the documents required, that are available in the online application. The signature on the documents must be handwritten and match the signature on the ID submitted.

Preferential rate renewal application result
The result will be made available within 27 March 2024 on MyApplication. For the renewal application, no subsequent steps of acceptance are required, the room is assigned. 

 

Preferential rate new admission application result and acceptance
The result will be made available within 2 May 2024 on MyApplication.
If the result is positive, you will receive a preferential rate housing assignment for A.Y. 2024-25. On the result, you will be notified the residence assigned, the room type, the period of assignment and the applicable Bocconi ISU bracket, which may change following the Lombardy Region's resolution on the final ISEEU/ISPEU parameters. The assignment offer received cannot be changed and no room changes are expected.
If you wish to accept the offer of accommodation received, proceed to pay the security deposit of 500 euros and upload all the required documents by the date that will be indicated in the result. If you fail to complete all the steps required to accept the housing assignment received by that deadline, your assignment will automatically be cancelled.

 

Open reservation recovery session result and acceptance
The result will be made available in the month of November 2024 on MyApplication.

 

Rate change
If the result is positive, you will receive a preferential rate housing assignment for A.Y. 2024-25. On the result, you will be notified the residence assigned, the room type, the period of assignment and the applicable Bocconi ISU bracket. No subsequent steps of acceptance are required.

In the event of a request of housing rate change with a negative result due to non-availability of assignable housing at preferential rate (as specified above), the student may apply for withdrawal by and no later than November 24th, 2024. 

 

New admissions
If the result is positive, you will receive a preferential rate housing assignment for A.Y. 2024-25. On the result, you will be notified the residence assigned, the room type, the period of assignment and the applicable Bocconi ISU bracket. The assignment offer received cannot be changed and no room changes are expected.

If you wish to accept the offer of accommodation received, proceed to pay the security deposit of 500 euros and upload all the required documents by the date that will be indicated in the result.
If you fail to complete all the steps required to accept the housing assignment received by that deadline, your assignment will automatically be cancelled.

In the event of a preferential rate new admission housing application (recovery session) with a negative result due to non-availability of assignable housing at preferential rate, the student may apply for the Open reservation at full rate (during the first session in December 2024).

Students who will result housing assignees for a.y. 2024-25 following the procedure described above will be able to use the assigned accommodation only in presence of the following conditions:

1) REGULAR ENROLLMENT for a.y. 2024-25
> regular enrollment for the absolute first time for a.y. 2024-25 in the first regular year of a Master of Science (i.e. bachelor Bocconi students going to the Master of Science program)

or

> regular enrollment for a.y. 2024-25 for the absolute first time in a regular year subsequent to the first of a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Integrated Master of arts in Law or PhD program. Also students enrolled in the 1st year “fuori corso” of a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Integrated Master of Arts in Law program will be able to reside in the Bocconi residence halls.

It is specified that the years of enrollment are counted for each study cycle starting from the absolute first year of enrollment*.

It is specified that for students with a disability pursuant to Italian Law n.104/1992 or with civil disability equal or greater than 66% can reside in the Bocconi Residence Halls at a preferential rate also if enrolled for a.y. 2023-2024 in the 2nd year “fuori corso” year of a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, Integrated Master of Arts in Law program.

*The absolute first year of enrollment shall be understood as any academic year of first enrollment in any kind of degree program (even if different from the one attended in the a.y. 2024-2025) which required the same education qualification as the one needed to access the attended program in the a.y. 2024-2025, in any University in Italy or abroad, even if the program has not been completed.

2) MERIT REQUIREMENT

For the purpose of eligibility to use the accommodation, the rules established in terms of merit requirements and detailed on the dedicated webpage for the different types of housing applications apply.

Before your arrival at the residence for a.y. 2024-25 you will have to pay the housing 1st installment: the deadline will be August 5th, 2024. You will see the MAV form for the payment on your you@B once you'll have completed your enrollment for a.y. 2024-25

Fees, deadlines and methods of payment a.y. 2024-25
It is specified that the possibility of seeing the MAV form for the housing 1st installment will be open to all students who will result assignees of a room as of early July 2024, regardless of their personal situation with respect to the merit or the enrollment requirement (please see paragraph 5). In fact, the verification of the requirements needed to use the accommodation can happen only at a later stage, after the deadline for payment.

It will therefore be the student's responsibility to verify that he/she has reached or is about to reach the merit and enrollment requirements. Failure to meet the requirements will in no way result in the cancellation of the amount due.

The University grants the right to leave the accommodation early and to withdraw from the commitment to such payment, exclusively in the foreseen cases of renunciation of the accommodation, proven by the specific academic reasons required for the acceptance of the renunciation request, and withdrawal from the accommodation, according to what detailed on the website pages dedicated to renunciation, withdrawal, cancellation and revocation. 

Students assigned housing for whom it is subsequently determined that they did not regularly enroll for the a.y. 2024-25 or did not meet the merit requirements will lose their right (eligibility) to use the Housing Service for the a.y. 2024-25. The assignment will be cancelled by the office and students will be required to leave the assigned accommodation immediately. It is specified that the payments due will remain the responsibility of the student even in the event of cancellation of the assignment. For this reason, before submitting a housing application, students are invited to pay particular attention to the provisions regarding the cancellation of the housing assignment, specified on the dedicated webpage.

If for a.y. 2024-25 you apply for new admission at a preferential rate and also apply for new admission at a full rate, by obtaining an assignment in that occasion, you will have any application and/or assignment at a preferential rate cancelled. Your assignment for a.y. 2024-25 will be at full rate.

Bocconi residences will be open from late August 2024 to late June 2025. The standard assignment period planned for AY 2024-25 meets the academic needs of most students.

There are no time restrictions on entry or exit for residence hall guests. There are restrictions, however, for external guests, whose presence in the residence hall is allowed only between 7 a.m. and midnight.

Regarding staying in the residence during the extraordinary opening periods (Christmas 2024 and July 2025), it will be necessary to submit a separate request.

It is specified that for July 2025 (request to be submitted in February 2025) the possibility of staying in July may be limited to students with academic needs (e.g., exams or internships) and that places may also be assigned in other residences, depending on the actual availability of Università Bocconi.

Bocconi University has accommodations in each residence hall that are designed to accommodate students with disabilities in order to offer them the possibility to easily live their university experience in a collective context that meets their needs. Students with disabilities who require special housing needs may contact the Office of Fees, Funding and Housing, which will evaluate, with each student, which housing is best suited to their specific needs. All reported issues and provided documentation will be treated confidentially and subject to applicable privacy regulations.In order for the Office to be able to satisfy the requests received, it is best to clarify your needs in advance. Interested students are advised to contact the Fees, Funding and Housing Office before submitting their housing application.
