Unicredit Bank - "Ad Honorem"

Students of legal age, with permanent residency ("residenza anagrafica") in Italy and who have a legally-valid Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree can apply for a "Ad Honorem" loan thank to the agreement between Bocconi University and UniCredit bank.

The agreement below is valid through 31 December 2021.

Granting of loans shall always be subject to evaluations carried out by the credit institute.

In order to access the loan, Master of Science students must have completed the enrollment in a program (without any reserves).
After the first year, the access to the line of credit is also subject to the achievement of an educational objective as indicated in the table below:

Year of program
Merit requirements at the time of loan application
1st year
enrollment completion
2nd year
40 credits

Students should submit a loan application through the proper online application.
Loans can be obtained for a maximum amount of 24,000 €.

The evaluation of the loan application is carried out by the University and the Bank and it can take approximately up to one month, therefore students are highly recommended to apply by mid-September in order to receive the installments of the loan in time.

Requests submitted by first year students cannot be evaluated before September.

After general and merit requirements have been checked, the University will receive a document containing information with the applicant’s situation and eligibility, the amount of the loan that can be requested, the end date of the program and the deadline by which the loan application must be submitted.

Interested students should go to one of the Unicredit group (Unicredit Banca, Unicredit Banca di Roma and Banco di Sicilia) branches and submit the communication referred to in the above point, within 60 days from the date on said communication.

Please note: it is recommended that students applying for a loan take their personal needs and administrative deadlines (i.e. tuition and fees) into consideration at the time of application. Banks will not necessarily make funds available according to the University's administrative deadlines, rather installments will be made every six months following the first installment of the loan received.

It is specified that the tranche is disbursed in the first days of the month following the verification and it is not possible to disburse the tranche in advance.

The loan will be allocated

as a credit in a current account with a maximum duration equal to the number of years of the chosen program, plus any internship period.

The total amount will be made available in several installments as follows should the student meet the merit requirements indicated in the "continuation criteria" section.

> 1st year: 2 six-monthly installments of €6,000 each for a total amount of €12,000
> 2nd year: 2 six-monthly

installments of €6,000 each for a total amount of €12,000

After the first year, the continuation of the line of credit is subject to the achievement of an educational objective.

The number of credits obtained by the student each 12 months after the opening of the loan and according to the year of enrollment will be taken into account, as indicated in the table below:

Year of program

Merit requirements at the time of loan application

1st year

enrollment completion

2nd year

40 credits

1st year fuori corso

90 credits

In cases in which students no longer possess the requirements, to which allocation of the second part of the loan is subject, the opening of credit will be revoked and the student may request a personal loan to reimburse the credit used under the abovementioned conditions. The same shall occur for students withdrawing from studies.

In cases of:

  • > false declarations, either on the loan application or on the application for admissions and/or the enrollment for the Bocconi program;
  • > expulsion from Bocconi programs;

the line of credit or loan will be revoked.

At the end of the period granting Opening of Credit, Unicredit grants a personal loan of an amount equal to the credit on the current account used, with the aim of paying it off. The duration of the reimbursement period is chosen by the student when opening the account, within a maximum limit of 15 years.
Students can make use of an initial “grace period” of the duration of 2 years. For “grace period”, the time frame during which the bank will not request installment payments, but during which interest will accrue is intended. In any case, the sum of the “grace period” with the reimbursement period may not be longer than 15 years. Capitalization on interest during the “grace period” is monthly, deferred.

Reimbursements will be made in monthly installments, with fixed deferrals. The stamp duty and substitute tax are at the expense of the applicant. The debt may be paid off in advance at any time without any additional fees, in which case the borrower must only reimburse the residual debt on the capital line.

The interest rate applied
will be variable and equal to the 3-month Euribor, to which a spread of
3.50% shall be added. The rate will be adjusted each trimester.

The interest rate applied is a fixed rate. This will be calculated in the following manner:

  • > EUROIRS 4 years for loans lasting between 12 and 60 months + business spread of 3.50 points
  • > EUROIRS 10 years for loans lasting between 61 a 120 months + business spread of 3.50 points
  • > EUROIRS 15 years for loans lasting more than 120 months + business spread of 3.50 points
