Life in the Bocconi dorms

In the Residence you will have the opportunity to fully appreciate university life, in an educational and stimulating environment. Living together with many students in a university residence gives you many possibilities: you will be able to share moments of the day, ideas and experiences with many other students from all over the world who will accompany you on your path of growth.

Below you will find some important general information that will be useful during your stay in residence.

Safety and Sustainability

> Environmental sustainability

Safety

Bocconi University is committed to look after the heath and safety of all its students, both on campus and in the residences, to prevent accidents and to minimize all the risks related to university life.

In order to live in the residence, one must be aware of the potential hazards that may result from unknowing use of the facilities and equipment provided in the facility or owned by guests. The cooperation of all guests is essential to avoid dangers due to improper behavior (using kitchens inappropriately, using unplanned and potentially dangerous electrical tools or household appliances, smoking outside permitted areas).

When it comes to safety in the residence, the topics to be faced are numerous, for example:

> The risk of fire
> The rules for evacuation
> Accidents at home
> What to do in case of injury/illness
> What to do in case of flooding

Please check all the safety rules in your residence halls and if you have doubts, refer to the residence manager.

On campus medical center

Bocconi University has set up an on-campus medical center, a clinic on the mezzanine floor of the Piazza Sraffa 11 building. The medical center will mainly meet the needs of non-residents in Milan and those who have difficulty accessing the services of their general practitioner. Regarding the medical center, please note the following:

  • The medical center is NOT an emergency service. In the event of an emergency, you should always call 112, the European emergency number, or the Bocconi emergency number, +39 02 5836.2121, which will activate the ambulance service if necessary.
  • This is a first-level internal medicine service, which can carry out medical examinations with a medical report and provide medications and prescriptions (however, it will NOT be able to issue prescriptions covered by the National Health Service, as by law they can only be issued by your general practitioner/family doctor).
  • This service is only available to members of the Bocconi community and cannot be extended to others (family members and acquaintances).

Timelines, procedures and contact information will be available in the Health and Safety widget in the yoU@B Diary and on the Intranet; please write to hse@unibocconi.it for any questions you may have.

If you need a technical intervention of maintenance in your accommodation, you must enter the request within the dedicated portal, accessible with your Bocconi credentials from the box "Maintenance Requests" on this page. The insertion of the request will allow the management of the residence to intervene promptly to solve the problem you encountered, replacing any defective parts or making all the necessary checks with the competent technicians. Please note that the management of the residence and the staff of Bocconi University can access your accommodation even in your absence in case of need or urgency.

All the kitchens in the Bocconi residences are equipped with induction stoves, so you can only use pots and pans with the induction symbol. Dishes, glasses or other utensils are not provided: you can decide to bring them from home before arriving, although we suggest you wait until your arrival in the residence to be able to organize yourself by sharing the purchase or use of the material with your companions. Near the residences you will find supermarkets and other stores where you can buy everything you need, either on your own or by sharing.

Each washing and drying cycle is charged according to the rates you will find displayed in the laundry rooms of the individual residence. The rooms are not provided with washing machines, nor with iron and ironing board.

In addition, in the break areas of the residences you will find vending machines for snacks, sweet and savory, coffee machines and also dispensers of self-care products.

Dorms and disabilities

Bocconi University has accommodations in each residence hall that are designed to accommodate students with disabilities in order to offer them the possibility to easily live their university experience in a collective context that meets their needs.

Students with disabilities who require special housing needs may contact the Office of Fees, Funding and Housing, which will evaluate, with each student, which housing is best suited to their specific needs.

All reported issues and provided documentation will be treated confidentially and subject to applicable privacy regulations.

In order for the Office to be able to satisfy the requests received, it is best to clarify your needs in advance. Interested students are advised to contact the Fees, Funding and Housing Office before submitting their housing application.
