LLM in Global Tax Law and Governance
1st level Specialized Master
Why GTLG?
The LLM in Global Tax Law and Governance is a 10-month program designed to train professionals in tax law and the governance, corporate law, accounting and technological aspects of tax-related issues.
The significance of tax law and policy has grown substantially in recent decades, becoming a central aspect of the modern professional landscape, as well as being connected to global governance.
The complexity of the field – including its interconnections with other branches of law, economics and corporate organization – demands specialized, systematic and in-depth knowledge.
Today, there is a strong demand for professionals who can provide tax advisory services across various areas of domestic and international tax law. These experts must also be capable of assisting taxpayers in their complex interactions with tax authorities and ensuring high-level technical defense – both during audits and in subsequent tax litigation.
The GTLG program aims to meet these demands, catering to individuals pursuing a career as tax advisors or tax policy experts. This goal is achieved through a pragmatic and interdisciplinary approach, focusing on the various stages of tax legislation application in corporate, consulting and international settings. The program is designed both for newly graduated students and young professionals looking to acquire or deepen their expertise in tax law in connection with other fields of the advisory world such as corporate and accounting, helping them requalify and seize the growing professional opportunities in the tax sector but maintaining a multidisciplinary approach.
The GTLG prepares participants for careers as:
-
Tax lawyers, chartered accountants and tax consultants
-
Executives in tax departments of mid- to large-sized companies
-
Tax specialists in public administration
-
Tax policy experts in international organizations
In order to adhere to a glocal philosophy, which has become fundamental in the globalized world – especially in a pragmatic field such as tax law – the program is designed to allow
the choice between 2 tracks:
-
The Global Track, in English: designed for both non-Italian and Italian students aiming for international career opportunities in tax law.
-
The Domestic Track, partly in English (in common with the Global track) and partly in Italian: combines an English and Italian learning experience, tailored for students pursuing tax law careers where expertise in Italian tax legislation, complemented by a comparative perspective, is a requirement.
