The Energy Transition Between Law and Markets
The GREEN research center organized the conference “The Energy Crisis and the Paths of Transition” on May 17 and 18. The event is promoted in collaboration with the Regional Administrative Court for Lombardy, the Milan Bar Association and the Society of Administrative Lawyers of Lombardy (SOLOM).
The sessions focus on energy transition and public energy law, new energy challenges, energy transition and urban regeneration, and safeguards and sanctions. The conference was designed as an occasion for discussion and sharing among academics, public and private actors on the highly pressing issue of sustainable energy management.
In fact, alongside administrative magistrates and experts in administrative and environmental law, speakers include representatives of institutions (Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security - MASE, Lombardy Region, Gestore dei Servizi Energetici - GSE), as well as executives from utilities and other public and private operators in financing, consulting and energy production. Also important is the presence of the Authority for Energy Networks and Environment (ARERA), which is headquartered in Milan.
According to Miriam Allena, professor in the Department of Legal Studies and a member of GREEN, “This conference is a valuable opportunity to take stock of a topic that is evolving very rapidly. Technology is constantly changing, and markets follow suit. Of course, this also entails a fast-evolving regulatory framework at the European and national levels: you could almost say that hardly a week goes by without some news to catch up on.”
