Alon Rosen Named IACR Fellow for 2025

The Bocconi cryptographer and director of the Department of Computing Sciences joins a prestigious scientific club

The International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) has announced that Alon Rosen, a distinguished cryptographer and professor at Bocconi University, has been named a Fellow of the IACR for 2025. This honor recognizes his significant contributions to the field of cryptology.

Alon Rosen currently serves as the Director of the Department of Computing Sciences at Bocconi University. His research spans theoretical computer science and cryptography, with notable work in zero-knowledge protocols and lattice-based cryptography.

His academic journey includes a PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science, postdoctoral positions at MIT's Computer Science and AI Lab and Harvard's Center for Research on Computation and Society, and a professorship at Reichman University in Israel.

The IACR Fellows Program recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the field of cryptology, promoting the exchange of ideas and advancing the science and practice of cryptology.

Cryptology is the science of secure communication. It includes both cryptography—the design of methods to protect information—and cryptanalysis—the study of how to break or analyze those methods. It's used to keep data private, ensure authenticity, and secure everything from online banking to military communications.
