Bocconi at the Center of the Debate on Decision Analysis
Policies on climate change and the environment are extremely difficult to develop because of the complex interdependencies of multiple variables. The topic of how to provide policy-makers with the right, rigorous tools to decide on climate change policies is the focus of one of the sessions of Advances in Decision Analysis 2019, a conference of the Decision Analysis Society (DAS), a subdivision of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), at Bocconi University on 19-21 June 2019.
Some 100 scholars in Decision Science, including the editors of the most prestigious journals, will participate, and the conferenced will be closed by a Ramsey Medalists Session, with nine Medal winners to discuss the future of the field. The Ramsey Medal is the most important award in the field of decision analysis.
The conference, chaired by Emanuele Borgonovo, Full Professor at Bocconi and President Elect of DAS, will include a PhD Incubator, i.e. a session devoted to PhD students, who will receive precious feedback by top scholars and journal editors and a session on the wisdom of the crowd, i.e. on the techniques that allow to aggregate multiple forecasts in order to obtain a more robust one.
More than 10 Bocconi scholars will participate, including a keynote speech by Massimo Marinacci. The other keynote speakers will be Cynthia Rudin, Duke University, and Robyn S. Wilson, Ohio State University.
