Andrea Sironi
Andrea Sironi is Professor of Banking and Finance at Bocconi University in Milan, where he also serves as President.
He was Rector of the same university from 2012 to 2016, and previously served as Dean of International Affairs and Dean of the Graduate School. From 2014 to 2016 he was President of CEMS, the Global Alliance of Management Education. Since May 2022 he has been Chairman of Assicurazioni Generali and since May 2021 he has been Chairman of the AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research. Since April 2023, he has also been a member of the Fondazione Agnelli Board.
University Board President
He was, until April 2022, Chairman of Borsa Italiana and, until December 2020, member of the Board of Directors of London Stock Exchange Group.
Previously he was visiting scholar at the Department of Finance at New York University's Stern School of Business and a visiting professor at the Division of Research and Statistics of the Federal Reserve Board in Washington and at the Department of Economics at Sciences Po, Paris. In 2013 he was part of the Group of experts for the evaluation of the capital of the Bank of Italy. Until February 2022 he was a member of the Board of Directors of Intesa SanPaolo and previously of the Board of Directors of Unicredit Group. From 1989 to 1990 he was a financial analyst at Chase Manhattan Bank in London.
Professor Sironi’s research interests include financial risk management and international banking regulation and supervision. He has published and edited many books and articles in refereed journals on these subjects at the Italian and international level.
He is currently a member of the board of directors of the Institute of International Political Studies (ISPI).
