A Taste of Executive Master in Finance with Terrance Odean

, by Fabio Todesco
The SDA Bocconi program for finance professionals will start in October. On 7 April a preview with one of the pioneers of behavioral finance, on 8 April the presentation at Milan's Salone del risparmio

Finance professionals looking for growth opportunities can have a taste of the brand new SDA Bocconi School of Management 's Executive Master in Finance (EMF) on Thursday, 7 April, participating in the Special seminar held by University of California at Berkeley's Terrance Odean (12:30pm, Room A, via Sarfatti 25, in joint with Assogestioni and Bocconi University's Department of Finance).

Professor Odean is one of the pioneers of behavioral finance. "In the 90s", Andrea Beltratti, EMF Academic Director, explains, "he gained access to the database of a large American broker and analyzed portfolio decisions of individual investors, drawing hypotheses and conclusions that have guided research in the field since then". His recent research aims to help investors avoid the most common investment mistakes. On 7 April he'll talk about the way investors evaluate mutual funds.

EMF is an executive program (targeted to professionals with 4-5 years of working experience) taught in weekends: two blocks per month with lessons on Friday afternoons and on Saturdays. Participants will, furthermore, attend Special Seminars, such as Terrance Odean's, with academics and practitioners that will discuss hot financial topics and a Leader Series with top managers. The program will run from October 2016 to December 2017.

EMF participants will choose among four specialization tracks: Corporate finance & control, Real estate, Asset/Wealth management and Banking. The four tracks share an applied approach, in order to educate professionals at ease with datasets and the packages needed to process data, and some extra-disciplinary courses, such as negotiation and organization.

EMF's main language is Italian, but part of the teaching – due to the presence of professors from prestigious foreign universities in the faculty – will be in English.

On 8 April EMF will be presented at Salone del risparmio (Milan's financial sector trade fair) at the event Asset management e formazione: l'Executive Master in Finance della SDA Bocconi (1:45pm). The speakers will be Tommaso Corcos, CEO Eurizon Capital, Bruno Busacca, dean SDA Bocconi, and EMF Director, Andrea Beltratti.
