The Summer Program in Numbers
The program has featured constant growth that has continued to increase in recent years. From the 140 students enrolled in the first edition in 2015, the number of students attending one of the five programs in the Bocconi Summer School-2024 Edition – starting on 1 July – has grown to almost 2,300. And this number is an increase of about 30% compared to 2023. About 90% of participants are non-Italian, representing 78 countries. In addition to the numbers, the offer has also increased enormously. For the first time, a program is available to graduate students during this edition. But there's more: starting this year, the program is returning to campus, after the online editions during the pandemic period and the subsequent hybrid editions. Students from all over the world will be able to challenge themselves with subjects including management, entrepreneurship and digital marketing, finance, economics, computer science, law and much more.
"On the tenth anniversary of its first edition, the Bocconi University Summer School has expanded the opportunities offered, with the introduction of two courses for Master students in Fashion Management and in Mergers and Acquisitions," says Carlo Salvato, Dean of the Graduate School. "These courses are also open to students from Italian universities. Bocconi Summer School 2024 is an opportunity for cultural and personal enrichment for all participants, but also for the professors involved and for the entire Bocconi community."
"Every year the Bocconi Summer School is an extremely important moment for us," says Gimede Gigante, Academic Director of the Summer School. "It's not just about the numbers, as impressive as they may be, but the enthusiasm and dedication we see in each and every student. The desire to learn, to grow and to explore new frontiers of knowledge is palpable and contagious. The success of the Summer School," he continues, "is a clear testimony to the quality of our courses and Bocconi's ability to attract talent from all over the world. This year we are offering a unique educational experience, which allows young people to understand global challenges with expertise and confidence.
"Our educational offer," adds Gigante, "is designed to stimulate not only the mind but also the spirit of our students. We want every participant to go home with new knowledge, new friendships, and a broader outlook on the world. This is the heart of our educational mission."
"I chose Bocconi because of a combination of factors: the city of Milan, the university's reputation, and the excellent summer program options. It's a great blend of social engagement and academic opportunities. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and expanding my network”, says Freek van den Berk, from University of Amsterdam. “I hope to make new contacts and gain fresh perspectives that I didn't get from my previous studies. While I studied political science, this course is more commercially oriented. I'm interested in broadening my horizons."
“A friend of mine recommended it to me, and I like Italy and its people", explains Jenny Du, from Justus Liebig University di Giessen. "I expect to learn, have a lot of fun, create memories and make new friends.”
