Students Design the Insurance Services of the Future
Insurance services for the gig economy, pay-per-use car insurance and an app for insurance services for immigrants in their own languages. These are some of the proposals thought up by students during the final of the 2019 #AXAChallenge contest promoted by Gruppo AXA Italia. A competition that saw 100 students, divided into 20 teams, compete with projects and business plans to design the insurance services of the future.
The competition was reserved for students in the Technology and Innovation Strategy course of the Master of Science in Economics & Management of Innovation & Technology, held by Gianmario Verona, Rector of Bocconi. Launched last September, the challenge focused on two key themes for the insurance sector: the customer journey, specifically how to improve their Digital Mobile Customer Experience, and Inclusive Insurance, or how to respond to the needs of targets usually distant from traditional insurance needs, such as young people. To support students, AXA Italia provided strategic support, case histories and tutoring for the creation of business plans.
The two winning teams, chosen after their pitches in front of a jury of Bocconi faculty and AXA top management, were 'Digital insurers' (Beatrice Bolis, Giorgia Fassone, Jacopo Casadei, Davide Di Cola and Eugenia Lupi), with their project to develop the customer experience of the AXA app, and 'Sempre BK', (Johannes Keiten, Paolo Foresti, Pierpaolo Guadagnuolo, Till Thietje and Alexander Van Den Bergh), with their project for flexible insurance for riders.
Winning students will have fast-track access to five internships and a career counseling desk at AXA. A dedicated open day event will be held at AXA for all other participants.
