Sport Management Will Be Among Courses Offered at Summer School
Summer is the best time for sports, and this year that will be true for Bocconi classrooms as well. The University is including the course "Sport Management" as part of the program for the first edition of Summer School, scheduled for 6-24 July. The program is reserved to 120 Bachelor students from all over the world, divided into classrooms of 30 participants according to their chosen topic (Economics of European Integration, Luxury Management and Private Equity and Venture Capital are the other three topics).
"The sports industry includes a wide range of institutions and companies, operating both in the organization of events and as providers of products and services at recreational and professional levels. As a result, the sports industry has a significant economic impact as well as an increasing social and cultural function," says Dino Ruta, Director of the Course in Sport Management and Director of the Sport Knowledge Center at the Bocconi School of Management. "The Summer School course will benefit from the patrimony of knowledge and relations with the SKC," explains Ruta. "Since its establishment, it has been committed to analyzing and producing new management solutions in the area of sports, thanks to collaborations with partners involved in various decisional processes at the highest levels."
The course, which will be held entirely in English, like all the Summer School courses, will engage students not only in traditional lecture hours, but also in group works and will expose them to business cases, making use of innovative teaching.
"During the program," adds Ruta, "there will also be visits to an important company in the sector, Adidas Italy, and the men's volleyball Superlega club Vero Volley Monza. In addition, students will attend a meeting with Pasquale Gravina, five-time gold-medal winning volleyball player at the World and European Championships, as well as silver-medal winner at the '96 Atlanta Olympics and bronze-medal winner in Sydney 2000."
The program will be rounded out with a more recreational part, with visits to the most important places in Milan and an entire day dedicated to Expo pavilions.
Registration for the Summer School will close on 4 May.
