Cleacc Students at Journalism Class

, by Elisa Bazzani
A series of meetings with journalists from Italian and international newspapers, part of the course Method, Critique and Research in Artistic Disciplines, started last week

"The purpose of the meetings with journalists is to bring the course closer and closer to the world of journalism and to show to the students the job's concrete implications", say Massimiliano Panarari and Giuseppe Berta, responsible for the CLEACC course Method, Critique and Research in Artistic Disciplines, centered on the role of communication in the formation of public opinion and of political consensus. The series of conferences started last Thursday with Tobias Bayer, correspondent for Italy of Die Welt and for the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung.

"We structured the cycle so that we could provide the students with an all-round view on the media landscape. Among others, we will host Alberto Mattioli, culture and entertainment expert for La Stampa, and Paolo Bricco of Il Sole 24 ore. Last week's meeting was very engaging for the students, especially during the debate on how the Italian audience perceives Germany and on the different approach to politicians' private life in Italian and German media", explains Panarari.

The journalists taking part in the next meetings will be: Alberto Faustini, director of Alto Adige and of Trentino, who will talk about local journalism; Francesco Borgonovo, news editor of Libero, on the Islamic State's communication; Davide Nitrosi, news editor of the political section of QN – Quotidiano Nazionale (Il Giorno – Il Resto del Carlino – La Nazione group) on contemporary political communication; Francesco Tartara, former managing editor of Tg4, on tv news. "The interaction with journalists is always one of the most stimulating aspects of the course for our students, especially for those who want to take up this career. We tried to cover the majority of genres and formats of contemporary journalism with these meetings", Berta concludes.
