Short but impactful
Fostering collaborative activities, furthering existing links or establishing new ones, among faculty and postdoc researchers across the CIVICA alliance, of which Bocconi is a founding member. This is the aim of the CIVICA faculty short visits scheme which sees the call for the next round open until December 3.
The scheme gives professors and researchers across CIVICA the opportunity to visit other member institutions and activities of the 2-5 day visits can include giving a CIVICA-branded talks, participating in a CIVICA-branded conference, organising/participating in workshops or seminars for PhD researchers, networking with other faculty, discussing potential research projects.
The fifth call for faculty short visits is currently open, with deadline December 3. The visits, after approval from the ‘Permanent Design Team’ (PDT) of CIVICA, will take place between 17 December 2024 and 17 December 2025.
We talked to Francesco Grossetti, of the Department of Accounting, about his visit to IE University in Madrid back in March
-Prof Grossetti, why did you choose IE for your visit?
I chose to visit IE University because of its strong emphasis on multidisciplinary research. I am collaborating with colleagues there from finance and information systems on a project that leverages AI and machine learning to deepen our understanding of the role and impact of various dimensions of executive compensation.
-What are your main takeaways from your CIVICA short visit?
It was an incredible opportunity for me. I had the privilege of spending a week engaging with several faculty members and fostering meaningful collaborations. These interactions led to the development of a more structured and expansive research project, called EXECML, which is now underway thanks to the CIVICA research grant that we secured in June together with the Stockholm School of Economics.
It is this synergy of shared goals, complementary skill sets, and diverse perspectives that drives my research forward and enables the creation of innovative and impactful studies.
