11th Edition of Bocconi Art Gallery, Contemporary Art Event Held on 19 September
Bocconi Art Gallery (BAG) is back, with a special focus on contemporary art from France. Among the new additions to the 100 works of art by 72 Italian and international artists that make up this 11th edition of the Bocconi event dedicated to contemporary art, there will be works by several French artists including Daniel Buren, Francois Morellet and Claude Rutault. BAG 2024 will also feature such artists as Joe Tilson, a member of 1960s Pop Art, and conceptual artist Giulio Paolini, among others. Starting at 4pm on 19 September, the University will open its doors to the city for a major event dedicated to contemporary art and music.
Tours
In addition to the opportunity to independently tour the buildings that house BAG's works, tours of the artwork accompanied by volunteers from Fondo Ambiente Italiano (FAI), and guided tours of the buildings that make up the Bocconi campus by Bocconi Library and Archives are scheduled from 4 to 8pm (for both types of tours, access is free of charge and visitors can register on site).
Talks
Again this year, the afternoon event dedicated to art will feature two talks moderated by University students. Starting at 5:30pm in the foyer of the Via Röntgen 1 Aula Magna, contemporary art and renovation will be discussed with sculptor Davide Dall 'Osso, Maria Vittoria Gozio Dall'Osso, co-founder & creative director Atelier Dall'Osso, and street and urban art artist Francesco Garbelli. The second talk will focus on the relationship between art and law, with Marco Ventoruzzo, Bocconi professor and author of 'Liz Taylor's Van Gogh' – a volume published by Egea – along with professor Piergaetano Marchetti and lawyer Carlo Melzi D'Eril.
Silent Concert
A Silent Wifi Concert will close out the evening. In collaboration with Yamaha Make Waves, the concert in headphones will be held in the Via 10 Sarfatti park, starting at 9pm. An event that mixes music and storytelling, it will feature Andrea Vizzini on the piano and narration by Antonio Gargiulo, with free admission while headphones last. The Silent Concert opens the new season of Isole Sonore, Bocconi and Yamaha's music festival.
More about the Bocconi Art Gallery
Created in 2009 with the idea of providing students with a different perspective on the world through the language of contemporary art, the Bocconi Art Gallery project has brought hundreds of works of art by numerous artists from around the world to Bocconi in recent years. Today, the collection owned by Bocconi has 17 works of contemporary art, including: Cancellazione del Debito Pubblico and Organigramma Piatto by Emilio Isgrò, Sonia Costantini's triptych, Guerrieri by Sergio Fermariello, Pittura R by Pino Pinelli, Untitled by Domenico D'Oora, Clinamen by Massimo Kauffman, Fight-Flight by Arthur Duff, Grande Scacchiera by Elio Marchegiani, Alessandro Mendini's Futuro wall painting, Knowledge That Matters by Lorenzo Petrantoni, Uno o Due Figure IV by Mario Raciti, Potenza del Colore by Mario Arlati, and works by Letizia Cariello and Nadia Fanelli. These are joined by Arnaldo Pomodoro 's Colonna and Giorgio Milani 's Poetario (the latter donated by SDA Bocconi faculty).
