Textile Tokyo. An Exhibition in Bocconi between Dream and Reality
If in these days you have been in the canteen of the Sarfatti building, you will surely have come across - right in the foyer of the restaurant - a series of images, hybrid creations, which it is not enough to define as photos. This is the personal exhibition of the French artist Aurélie Mathigot, curated by MIA Photo Fair - in collaboration with the Flux Laboratory in Geneva - which carries on the project of artistic enrichment of the university spaces, begun in October 2016.
The exhibition, named Regardes Tissés sur Tokyo, consists in a series of photographs of the Japanese capital printed on canvas and embroidered by the artist, offering a realistic vision, but with a dreamy vein, of the city. Mathigot, who has brought her work to France, Italy, Japan and Brazil, internalizes the pictures that she captured, intertwining and weaving rope, wool and cotton textures on the spaces she has photographed, to create a personal link with a physical place, illustrating it not only with a mix of fabrics, but also with materials taken from everyday life, such as wood, wax and ceramics.
The exhibition is free and can be visited until March 12 from Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm and on Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
