Teaching Awards: Meet the Thirty Winners

Award winners have been announced for two categories, performance index and teaching innovation

Teaching awards for 2016-2017 have been assigned to faculty members at Bocconi: there are a total of thirty winners, in two categories related to their performance index results and innovation. In the same occasion, the Research Awards have also been assigned.

"Education is more and more important in modern society," said Fausto Panunzi, Dean of General Affairs at the University. "Teachers have to possess a great deal of knowledge, skills and commitment in order to meet those demands. This is why it is important for Bocconi to recognize and reward our best and most innovative teachers."

Divided by School, the followed outstanding faculty members have been awarded based on the ranking of their performance index, which is calculated based on evaluations of their teaching activities provided by university students, SDA students and PhD candidates:

Undergraduate School: Christiane Bode (Management and Technology), Italo Colantone (Policy Analysis and Public Management), Viktar Fedaseyeu (Finance), Luca Simone Scarani (Accounting), Emiliano Sironi (Decision Sciences) and Antonello Tarzia, (Legal Studies).

Graduate School: Eliana La Ferrara (Economics), Marina Puricelli (Management and Technology), Sarial Abi Zehra Gulen (Marketing), Marco Carone (Legal Studies), Elena Gramano (Legal Studies) and Emanuele Vendramini (Policy Analysis and Public Management).

School of Law: Francesco Dal Santo (Policy Analysis and Public Management), Mario Notari (Legal Studies), Lorenzo Gagliardi (Legal Studies) and Gaetano Iorio Fiorelli (Legal Studies).

PhD School: Anna Battauz (Finance).

SDA Bocconi School of Management: Gabriella Bagnato (Management) and Stefano Bonini (Finanza).

The award winners in the innovation category, divided by School, were:

Undergraduate School: Giuseppe Ferraguto (Macroeconomia) for introducing four non-mandatory tests on extra readings and including the tests on the Blackboard platform. Salvatore Nunnari (Microeconomics) for using in-class experiments according to the learning by playing principle. Hannes Wagner (Corporate Finance) for evaluating students based on a mix of methods that increase engagement. Quizzes are completed using the Blackboard platform.

Graduate School: Angelo Ditillo (Performance Measurement and Control Systems course) for transforming an existing case into a role-play exercise. Paola Dubini (Internet, Publishing and Music) for involving students in the construction of a conceptual map of the Milanese editorial culture to promote Milan's candidacy as a creative UNESCO city of literature. Stefano Pogutz (Green Management and Corporate Sustainability) for organizing a simulation of the UN Climate Change negotiation within the CEMS program.

School of Law: Miriam Allena (Public Procurement Law, Anti-Corruption and Sustainability) for overhauling the course content in light of how the regulation of procurement can impact corruption and sustainability. Maria Teresa Maggiolino (Advanced Companies and Business Law – Antitrust Law) for creating ad hoc materials and cases used during class discussions and for creating conceptual maps that can be consulted online.

PhD School: Rebecca Graziani (Computational Statistics) for introducing Python as the programming language to replace MATLAB, which reorganized and made innovations to the course as a result.

SDA Bocconi School of Management: Leonardo Caporarello and Beatrice Manzoni (Survivor Day: Dealing with the Unexpected) for creating an innovative format, designed along the three phases of a business idea (ideation, business concept, sales & pitching)
