Andrea Ordanini (Department of Marketing) won the 2011 JSR Best Article Award for Service Innovation Viewed Through a Service-Dominant Logic Lens: A Conceptual Framework and Empirical Analysis (Journal of Service Research, Volume 14, No. 1, February 2011, pp. 3-23), an article written with A. Parasuraman (University of Miami School of Business, recently visiting professor at Bocconi for the PhD Days).
The award has been presented to the authors at the Frontiers in Services Conference at the University of Maryland (14-17 June).
The article was deemed the best among those published in 2011 by the editorial board of the journal, which in the last stage had to choose from a short-list of four.
Ordanini and Parasuraman, in the awarded article, propose a model explicating antecedents and consequences of service innovation, based on the Service-Dominant Logic. They find that contact personnel are the key resource of service firms willing to innovate, and the radicalness of innovation – rather than its volume - has the strongest effect on their financial performance.
