New UNDP Role for Leonardo Borlini

, by Andrea Costa
The Bocconi international jurist will develop a much-needed methodology to assess the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures worldwide

Leonardo Borlini, Associate Professor of International Law at Bocconi’s Department of Legal Studies, has been appointed by the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) Lead Expert on compliance and effectiveness of global anti-corruption measures, norms and standards.

The role is tasked with developing a robust framework for measuring the effectiveness of anti-corruption measures worldwide. This is an area where progress has been slower than expected for various reasons, among which the absence of a reliable assessment of results.

For this purpose, Leonardo Borlini will implement a comprehensive analysis of existing methodologies, followed by the creation of a standardized assessment tool, and the development of a digital dashboard to track progress. By working closely with governments and experts, he will potentially play a crucial role in strengthening global anti-corruption efforts.

By providing a clear and comparable picture of anti-corruption performance across countries, the initiative is meant to help policymakers identify areas for improvement and implement more effective strategies.
