March 8 is not just any other day
Around the world, International Women's Day becomes an opportunity to reflect on gender inequality and the level of protection of women's rights. However, no matter the spotlight shining on women on March 8, the commitment to fighting gender discrimination must continue for the rest of the year, particuarly at higher eduction institutions like Bocconi, which has decided to support female students with special scholarships and governance actions to promote diversity and inclusion.
ViaSarfatti25 has dedicated a special section to the issue of female empowerment in society and gender violence seeking to reveres it. It recounts the research work on gender on the part of the Bocconi faculty, as well as the experiences of Bocconi students and alumni on gender disparity. From the activities of the AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality to studies on the risk of perpetuating the gender gap through multiple-choice exams; from research on pink quotas in political representation to research on gender-based violence in South America; from reflections on Italian legislation with respect to European demands, to direct experiences in the creation of networks and legal clinics for women in prison, here are the thought-provoking contributions of Bocconi female (and male) researchers for this March 8.
