Giovanni Agnelli Foundation and Universita' Bocconi Together for Applied Economics
The Giovanni Agnelli Foundation contributes to progress in research in applied economics thanks to the establishment of a permanent professorship named after Attorney Giovanni Agnelli, to be assigned to a young Associate Professor at Bocconi.
John Elkann, Vice President of the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation, and Bruno Pavesi, Chief Executive of Università Bocconi, this morning signed an agreement that, through a donation of 2 million euros, establishes the Avvocato Giovanni Agnelli Associate Professorship in Economics at Università Bocconi. The role will be held by Chiara Fumagalli, Associate Professor of Economics, for the first five years.
"With the establishment of this professorship," said University Rector Andrea Sironi, "the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation is now part of the group of strategic partners who are helping Bocconi become an international point of reference for research, study experiences, and training of human capital."
"For years the Giovanni Agnelli Foundation has decided to concentrate all its resources and research activities on education – from preschool to university – because this is what our future depends on. On the tenth anniversary of the death of my grandfather Giovanni Agnelli, I am pleased that the Foundation and Università Bocconi have established an initiative that values the best and most talented young people working in research in applied economics, such as Professor Chiara Fumagalli," said John Elkann, who has already been collaborating with Bocconi as a member of the International Advisory Council.
