The Bocconi health economist will serve for a two-year period

The European Health Economics Association (EuHEA) has appointed Aleksandra Torbica as its new President, for a two-year mandate, effective immediately. Prof. Torbica brings a wealth of expertise in health economics and policy related research in addition to significant experience in engaging with international institutions, further strengthening EuHEA's mission to advance research and knowledge in the field of health economics across Europe.

Aleksandra Torbica, an associate professor in the Department of Social and Political Sciences, and senior researcher in the Centre for Research on Health and Social Care Management (CERGAS) at Bocconi, has more than 20 years of experience in health service research covering a broad range of issues ranging from health systems performance, governance of healthcare systems, health technology assessment to evaluation of health policy and programs, in different contexts. More recently, she has expanded her research areas in the arena of global health policy and economics with greater focus on low- and middle-income countries.

As President of EuHEA, Prof. Torbica will focus on fostering interdisciplinary research, enhancing the engagement with national associations around Europe, expanding the EuHEA outreach and enhancing initiatives to support the next generation of health economists. Her leadership aims to ensure that EuHEA continues to be at the forefront of scientific associations addressing critical health economics issues impacting Europe and beyond.

EuHEA promotes cooperation among all national health economics associations and groups in Europe. It also aims to profile and foster health economics at European universities.
