3. Merit requirement: specific rules for calculating credits
- Bonus
In order to reach the minimum merit requirements needed, in addition to the credits already earned, all students, except first-year students, may use a bonus, as indicated below: - If students have never used a bonus previously, they can request bonus credits as indicated in the table above. Once students use bonus credits they no longer have the right to accrue other bonus credits.
- Once students use bonus credits, they still have the possibility to use any residual credits in future years.
- Students enrolled in Master of Science programs can use any residual bonus credits not used during their Bachelor of Science program. If they never used bonus credits during their Bachelor of Science program, they may use up to 15 credits.
- Calculation of credits
The number of necessary credits will be calculated based on the credits required for each past academic year, starting with the absolute first-year of enrollment[1]. This rule also applies to anyone who has interrupted the normal progression of the attended years of the program (e.g. students who repeat or have repeated the enrollment in a program year already attended, also after having withdrawn from studies or having transferred from other Universities or faculties, or for other interruptions), except for “temporary interruptions” pursuant to art. 8 section 5 of the D.P.C.M. 9 april 2001. - Course change
For study program changes, for calculating merit, will be considered only credits valid for the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science or Integrated Master program attended when the student submits the housing application -
Students with disability
Merit criteria for students with disability pursuant to Italian Law n.104/1992 or with civil disability equal or greater than 66%may deviate up to a maximum of 40 percent
from the set. Exceptionally, such students will be able to
renew housing even if for a.y. 2025-26 they will enroll in the first year fuori corso (full rate renewal) and second year fuori corso (preferential rate only) of their program. - PhD program
PhD students who meet the economic requirements can apply for housing renewal or new admission for a.y. 2025-26 if they have been regularly admitted for a.y. 2025-26.
Attention:
Please note that the lack of the merit requirement will result in the cancellation of the housing assignment. Students who, at any time during the year, are found to lack the merit requirement will be asked to leave their accommodation immediately and will still be required to pay in full any housing installments still due, or will not be entitled to a refund of housing installments if already paid. They will also not be entitled to a refund of the security deposit.
Please check the possibility of submitting a housing renunciation application if you realize that you might not reach the credits needed for the merit requirement by August 10, 2025. Please make sure to check all the details on the dedicated renunciation webpage.
[1] The first absolute year of enrollment shall be understood as any academic year of first enrollment in any kind of degree program (even if different from the one attended in a.y. 2025-2026) which required the same education qualification as the one needed to access the attended program in a.y. 2025-2026, in any University in Italy or abroad, even if the program has not been completed.
