Enrolling as a transfer student

Transfer students with credit recognition a.y. 2025-26

The credit recognition process aims to convert credits gained at the student’s university of origin into recognized credits, registered in the Bocconi academic transcript. Credit recognition is based on the analysis of the student’s syllab completed by Bocconi course and program’s directors and is usually completed by the end of September/beginning of October.

It is not possible to know the amount of recognized credits in advance.

University years used as diploma integration to reach the 12 years of studies compulsory for the enrollment to a Bachelor cannot be recognized as exam credits.

Deadline Documents
By the enrollment deadline of your round of selection Admitted students who are currently enrolled in or have graduated from another university must, during the enrollment process, complete the dedicated section to declare whether they wish to request recognition of credits already earned.
Mid April - Early May 2025 Students who wish to request credit recognition will receive instructions via email to access a dedicated platform. On this platform, they can specify which exams from the Bocconi study plan they wish to have recognized, based on exams from their previous university’s study plan (either already completed or scheduled by July 2025), and they can upload the corresponding official course syllabi.
By 11 July 2025 When re-accessing the platform, it will be necessary to provide a Self-Certification of the detailed university academic record (downloadable from the personal page of the university of origin) and complete the request by entering all the details related to the exams for which recognition is being requested, including: grade in thirtieths (if the grade was obtained abroad, the foreign grading system should be entered), date of completion, and credits acquired.
By 27 July 2025 On the platform, it will be necessary to provide the receipt of submission of the official withdrawal document or ex-matriculation (issued by the university of origin).
By 31 August 2025 Only students enrolled in an Italian University: the  "foglio di congedo" (transfer certificate) issued by the University of origin must be sent via PEC*

For students coming from an Italian University, the transfer certificate ("congedo") issued by the University of origin must be provided by 31 August. The transfer certificate ("congedo") is issued only after submitting the transfer application ("domanda di trasferimento").
The transfer certificate ("congedo") must be sent to Bocconi University directly by the university of origin by the deadline indicated, by certified email (PEC) to the address: admissionsoffice@unibocconi.legalmail.it

If a PEC address is not available, this should be reported to ufficioammissioni@unibocconi.it
Please remember to check the deadlines for submitting the withdrawal document / ex-matriculation / domanda di trasferimento /  with the University of origin

The Admissions Office will submit the syllabi you uploaded on the platform, to the faculty member in charge of recognition.

For each course, the result may be:

  • FULL RECOGNITION: the exam is fully recognized and will added to the Bocconi study plan with the grade received at the university of origin. If two exams are requested to be recognized for a single Bocconi exam code, the final grade will be calculated as the weighted average of the two exams.

  • PARTIAL RECOGNITION: the exam is partially recognized. The unrecognized part of the exam must be completed during one of the exam sessions scheduled for that course, according to the methods indicated by the faculty member. The recognized part of the exam will contribute to the final grade using a weighted average.

  • UNSUCCESSFUL RECOGNITION: the exam is not recognized and must be taken at Bocconi.

After receiving the feedback from the Bocconi faculty members and verifying that the exam has effectively been passed on the student’s final academic transcript, the Admissions Office will meet the student to present the credit recognition result (around late September/early October and only after the final academic transcript has been received).

Once the credit recognition result has been viewed, the student has 5 business days to decide whether to:

  • Accept the recognition: all the exams recognized (both partially and fully) will be added to the Bocconi study plan (it will not be possible to choose among the exams and decide to not have some recorded in the study plan);
  • NOT accept the recognition: by not accepting, the student automatically withdraws enrollment at Bocconi University and, at the same time, can submit a request for reimbursement of the advance payment of the first installment.
