Gianmario Verona, in his Future World masterclass, illustrates how digital transformation, with the pandemic highlighting its real value, is set to further impact our society

Digital transformation has been reshaping our lives since the late Nineties. But we are realizing its actual impact on most sectors of the economy and potential for future growth only now during the Covid19 pandemic, as explains Gianmario Verona, Rector of Bocconi University and a scholar of digital transformation, in his Future World masterclass.

Future World is a new series of video masterclasses, promoted by Bocconi together with Financial Times, with Bocconi professors and prominent guests discussing the megatrends and forces at work shaping the post-pandemic world and impacting the economy, climate change, digital transformation, population change and European politics.

In the video, Gianmario Verona gives his view of where digital technology is taking us and its impact on the economy and society. Explaining how data is the new fuel moving the global economy and how the future will be hybrid - with digital technologies complementing traditional analog technologies and with data driving organizations towards innovations that markets want. His guest Vittorio Colao, Minister of technological innovation and digital transition of the Italian government, explains the scope and impact of the EU's Next Generation Fund which has Digital Transformation as one its major pillars.
