Products, Processes and Business Model

, by Gianmario Verona - ordinario presso il Dipartimento di management e tecnologia
The successes of our alumni, the results of the rankings, new study programs and the influx of top faculty mark Bocconi's strong start for 2019 in terms of innovation and skills

The Legion of Honor was awarded to Francesca Bellettini, Bocconi alumna and CEO of Saint Laurent; fellow alumna Francesca Cornelli, the first woman to become full professor at the London Business School, was nominated Dean of the Kellogg School of Management; Bocconi signed a collaboration agreement with the London School of Economics and Political Science for a new double degree in European & International Public Policy & Politics, then took eighth place globally for Business and Management in the Qs World University Ranking by subject. This string of successes over the first two months of the year has set the pace for Bocconi and its international community. Innovation and skills are the leitmotifs that link these positive developments to the strategic lines along which Bocconi moves.

Drawing from corporate language, we can say that Bocconi is increasingly involved in product, process and business model innovation.

In fact, our educational offer is growing. Next fall, the Master of Science in Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance will be launched, with all-new contents that combine theory with practice, fundamental concepts with soft skills. Teaching methods throughout our offer of programs, including executive education, fully exploit the potential of digital and blended learning. Ongoing training is also crucial to the relationship with our alumni, which has become more inclusive and participatory with the birth of the Bocconi Alumni Community.

But there can be no innovation if there are no skills. This is why we continue to invest in a faculty of professors and researchers who make a solid impact on teaching and research. Their efforts propel a virtuous cycle flowing through our students and alumni engaged in the world of companies and institutions. In the last two years, Bocconi has hired 46 teachers from leading universities in the social sciences; for the 2019-2020 academic year, ten are already under contract and others will be added.

We are only at the beginning of this 2019 (already rife with success) and our many ongoing projects again place innovation and skills at the center of an ecosystem of alliances and collaborations that will continue to make us all proud to be Bocconians.
