Paola Profeta, Full Professor of Public Economics and Director of Bocconi's AXA Research Lab on Gender Equality, was appointed as Italian representative in the Experts' Forum of the European Institute for Gender Equality (EIGE).

The Experts' Forum is the EIGE consultative body. Its principal function is to provide expert knowledge in the field of gender equality.

It is composed of members from competent bodies specialized in gender equality issues from every Member State of the European Union.

"Being part of the board of experts is a great opportunity to increase interactions between the various institutions. EIGE has worked to become the European knowledge center on gender equality issues. Now it's time to collaborate in order to shift these concepts into more operational actions," says Professor Profeta.

"Moreover, EIGE has a database on gender statistics and information on various aspects of (in)equality between women and men, which is extremely interesting for research purposes," continues Prof. Profeta.

Paola Profeta was appointed for a period of three years.

EIGE is an autonomous body of the European Union, established to contribute to and strengthen the promotion of gender equality, including gender mainstreaming in all EU policies and the resulting national policies, and the fight against discrimination based on sex, as well as raising EU citizens' awareness of gender equality.
