Marco Giarratana, an Associate Professor from Madrid

He joins the Department of Management and Technology

After a period as visiting professor in 2009-2010, Marco Giarratana has chosen Bocconi as his academic home and joins the Department of Management and Technology as associate professor in the academic year 2011-2012. He comes from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, where he covered the same position and was sub-director of the Department of Business Administration. He gained his PhD in Economics and Management at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna in Pisa.

The fruitful contacts with Bocconi are proven by publications co-authored by Giarratana with Alfonso Gambardella and Claudio Panico about human capital and geography and knowledge spillovers. Other fields of interests of his are marketing and R&D strategies and community-focus strategies.

Giarratana is associate editor of European Management Review and his works were included in the best papers and proceedings at the Academy of Management Conference both in 2009 and in 2010. He is currently an elected reps-at-large for the TIM Division of the Academy of Management.
