The new assistant professor of the Department of Management comes from Imperial College

Julien Jourdan enters Bocconi as an assistant professor for the Department of Management and Technology; he comes from Imperial College London, where he worked as a research associate in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation group. He was previously involved in the Center for Research on Society and Organizations at HEC Paris, and taught Media and Entertainment Economics at ESSEC Business School.

Jourdan studied Management at ESCP Europe, Organization Theory at Paris-Sorbonne University, and holds a PhD in Management and Strategy from HEC Paris. His dissertation Logic Duality, Conformity and Survival in the French Film Industry, 1987-2008 investigates how the persistence of two institutional logics in an industry affects firm strategies, and how in return firms' behaviors contribute to maintain logics separated. His work has been distinguished by several prestigious awards.

A first paper out of his dissertation Jules or Jim: Alternative Conformity to Minority Logic is forthcoming in the Academy of Management Journal. The article reveals how firm can conform to a minority logic as a soft control strategy to loosen the grip of dominant players.

Jourdan is a member of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, the European Group for Organization Studies, and the Center for Research on Society and Organizations. He was previously Director of Finance for Warner Bros. Pictures France (2001-2006).
