Exchange, Welcome Back!

The welcome return on campus of exchange students after an 18 month absence. Over 670 students arriving this fall semester from five continents

The Covid-19 pandemic hit international mobility hard, including that of exchange students moving across campuses around the world. Bocconi is thus happy to welcome back on campus this fall semester over 670 incoming students in exchange from the school's international network which comprises 280 universities from all five continents.

Exchange students have been absent from the campus in Milan since March 2020 and the academic year 2020-21 saw 676 students carry out their exchange in Bocconi in virtual mode. With vaccinations and safety measures fully implemented around campus, exchange students can now make their return. This semester 674 students are arriving, at both BSc and MSc level as well as Law students, with a strong majority from Europe but with a presence from all continents.

"In our classrooms we finally see exchange students again," comments Stefano Caselli, Dean for International Affairs, "and their presence is a great value for Bocconi for two reasons. On the one hand, our students benefit from the presence of other talents coming from the best universities in the world, thus expanding their network and the possibility of collaboration. On the other hand, exchange students returning to their countries become the best ambassadors of our University, testifying to the quality of its research and teaching."

"Studying Finance, I chose Bocconi as it has a great reputation in this field. And I love Italian culture!," says Emma Skog, 22 , Swedish, from University of Gothenburg, currently making the most of the welcome activites on campus for exchange students. "Regarding Covid, I can see great safety measures around campus so I feel safe to be here."

"I am looking forward to interacting with different cultures and exploring Milan," says Chia Chun Liu, 22, from National Chengchi University in Taiwan. "I should have come last February and had to postpone so I am so happy now to be here."

"It is great that it is now possible to be here in person," says Anni Koepple, 21, German, from LMU Munich. "Hopefully it will be a 'normal' year and I look forward to learning a lot, meeting new friends and creating a new big network."

"I am so happy to be able to move around again. Bocconi is a great university and I hope to network with many international students...and also become fluent in Italian in my time here!," says Chiara Loria, 19, French, incoming from EDHEC Business School.
