The European Accounting Review Conference at Bocconi

A selection rate of more than one out of five is the best evidence of how topical family firms are in current accounting studies. The eight papers to be presented at the European Accounting Review Conference. Accounting and Reporting in Family Firms (Università Bocconi, June 15-16, 2012) have been chosen among 43 submissions by three guest editors including Universiteit van Amsterdam's Henri Dekker and Bocconi's Sasson Bar-Yosef and Annalisa Prencipe (chief guest editor). The best papers will be published in a special section of the review.

The conference is the result of two years of effort, ignited by an idea put forward by the former European Accounting Review's editor, Salvador Carmona. The seminal works of Prencipe and Bar-Yosef make Bocconi a centre of expertise in the field.

"The submissions", Prencipe says, "show a strong interest for financial reporting and management accounting, while the attention to auditing is still lagging. Furthermore, the abundance of family firms in Asia sparked the interest of Asian scholars, working both at Asian and Western universities".
