Donato Masciandaro Is New SUERF President
Donato Masciandaro, full professor in the Department of Economics at Bocconi and director of the Baffi Centre on Economics, Finance and Regulation, has been appointed President of SUERF-The European Money and Finance Forum, a Vienna-based European network founded in the 1970s that brings together researchers working in three different fields: academia, central banks and banking and finance firms. Masciandaro, already a member of SUERF's board since 2009, will officially take office in May for a three-year term of office, which is renewable.
"I am honored to know that the colleagues who voted for this office have spoken unanimously honors me. One more reason to serve with commitment and passion an institution that is unique in the European landscape," says Masciandaro, "because, since its beginning, it draws on, nurtures and connects three different communities of researchers. Its main activity consists in the production and dissemination of research applied to policy problems, through two channels: the publication of studies and analyses, and the organization of seminars and conferences. Recently a conference was held at Bocconi University, organized by SUERF, Baffi Centre and IEP on the relationship between climate change and monetary and financial policy design. Besides, since 2020 SUERF and the Baffi Centre have been jointly organizing a series of international seminars. SUERF's activities are strengthened by the presence of prestigious fellows; among them is the dean of research at Bocconi, Elena Carletti."
Masciandaro's appointment continues a Bocconi tradition that before him saw Mario Monti and then Franco Bruni as SUERF Presidents.
