Bocconi and Politecnico: Cyber Risk Turns into an Opportunity for Gender Equality
The kick-off of the Master of Science in Cyber Risk Strategy and Governance, this morning at Bocconi with the Rectors Ferruccio Resta (Politecnico) and Gianmario Verona (Bocconi), is an important step for a city able to put together its best resources, i.e. Milan, a confirmation of the push for digital transformation and a pleasant surprise for those who believe in gender equality.
The Master of Science (taught in English) is the first case of a degree course jointly designed by two prestigious universities in Milan, Bocconi and the Politecnico, with a diploma recognized by both institutions and with the partnership of six major private companies (Cisco, Intesa Sanpaolo, KPMG, NTT Data, Reply and Vodafone).
The program aims to provide participants with the tools to understand, assess and govern the opportunities and threats arising from emerging technologies. In particular, the 38 pioneers who kicked off today and all those who will follow in the coming years will be able to deal with cyber risks and their impact on the performance of organizations, not just private ones. It is no coincidence, then, that last Thursday, even before the start of the Master in Science, the students were received by the Councillor for Digital Transformation of Milan, Roberta Cocco, who presented the guidelines of her project for city transformation.
The pleasant surprise about gender equality is due to the fact that 47% of the students are female, confirming perhaps a connotation of the course which is not only technological. «During all the presentations», explains Greta Nasi, Director of the Master of Science for Bocconi, «we underlined the triple soul of the program: in addition to the technological side, we will also develop management and soft skills».
«Today I would like to be on the other side of the desk», Bocconi Rector, Gianmario Verona, said during his welcome speech, «because you are taking a unique and innovative path. It is more than a double degree because it was jointly designed by the two universities, it's at the forefront of corporate needs, it is interdisciplinary and, thanks to the scholarships provided by the partners, it is inclusive».
