Aleksandra Torbica Elected as Future president of the European Health Economics Association (EuHEA)
At the ongoing European Health Economics Association (EuHEA) conference in Oslo, the assembly of delegates has elected, by a unanimous vote, Aleksandra Torbica, an Associate Professor of the Department of Social and Political Sciences and current director of CERGAS, as future president for 2024-2026. In the forthcoming two years, 2022-2024, Aleksandra will serve on the EuHEA Executive Board in the capacity of President-Elect.
This appointment has particular significance as Aleksandra Torbica is the youngest EuHEA president ever elected, and it is the first time that a representative of Italy holds this position. Aleksandra Torbica has also been chairing the Italian Association of Health Economics (AIES) since 2020. This very fact is, in the new president's intentions, an important push toward greater collaboration among the national associations coordinated by EuHEA.
"Besides striving for closer collaboration among national associations," said Torbica, "I also want to increase the resources allotted to research programs reserved for young PhD students and researchers at the beginning of their careers. In addition, I believe it is necessary to push for greater scientific openness by increasingly integrating the various disciplines that health economics employs. This is something I strongly believe in, as I am convinced that only by building bridges between different disciplines can we address complex phenomena in society."
