Alberto Manconi, one of the new entries of the Department of Finance, studied in Italy and France and taught in the Netherlands. Now he's serving as an Assistant Professor at Bocconi since September 2016. His academic interests include finance, institutional investors and mutual funds, while his non-academic ones are jogging, guitar playing and sailing, an activity he often practiced more when he was younger.

The degree in Economics at the University of Pisa in 2004 was followed by a Master's degree in Finance at the University of Turin. Then he moved to Fontainebleau, at the Insead, where he obtained his Ph.D in Finance. "After the Ph.D I moved to the University of Tilburg, in the Netherlands, where I had been Associate Professor of Finance for six years", says the academic, whose works have been published in several international journals such as Review of Finance, Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Financial Economics, European Journal of Law and Economics and Review of Financial Studies.

"During university I realized that research was my ideal job. If for some reason I had not become a Professor I would have done research as a hobby", admits Manconi. "Bocconi seems like a good choice to enhance my academic career since every day I can relate with extremely competent people within a quality Department".
