The lesson
Recent developments in the global political landscape raise several questions on the future of sustainability. The European Union, increasingly concerned with safeguarding its competitiveness and prosperity, recently adopted the Omnibus package of measures aiming at fostering a favorable business environment and reduce excessive regulatory burdens on companies. Against this backdrop, a substantial simplification in the field of sustainability and EU investment programs is expected, while the application dates of some of the flagship sustainability regulations have been postponed.
At the same time, the European Union has reaffirmed its commitment to the Green Deal objectives, confirming that sustainability and competitiveness shall go hand in hand.
This session will introduce prospective graduate students to the main sustainability challenges of our time, and will analyze the role of sustainability regulations in the new global order.
