Big Tech, Antitrust, and Democracy: How to Navigate the Trump-Musk Moment
Donald Trump's second presidency is already marked by a different relationship with major digital platforms.
Elon Musk, CEO and owner of X, is one of the key figures in the new administration, and Big Tech CEOs have actively supported and funded the new Republican president since the campaign.
This evolving relationship between politics and digital platforms represents a stark break from the more aggressive regulatory and antitrust policies of the Biden administration.
What are the consequences for the American economy and democracy? And how might this US government Tech alliance impact the European Union?
We will discuss these questions with Nilanjana Dutt (Professor of Strategy in the Department of Management and Technology at Bocconi, IEP@BU), and Luigi Zingales (Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago - Booth School of Business, IEP@BU)
Stefano Feltri, Communication Advisor at the Institute for European Policymaking, will moderate the discussion.
